You ask a lot of questions, and raise a lot of issues that have been the topic of discussion on the list within the last few/several months. Additionally, it seems that you don't know a lot of answers to simple questions about the district that longer-tenured members are already somewhat painfully aware of. As such, I hesitate to respond to many of your posts because I do not wish to alienate list members by boring them with the answers. I also don't want to publicly correct you on simple errors or unintended omissions you have made. You may recall that in the "Welcome to greatschools!" email I sent when you joined, I urged you, as I do all new list members, to come up to speed on issues by researching the issues through the list archives. Sure, it's "old news," but much of it directly answers the issues you raise. I don't want to appear to limit you, but out of respect for other list members, I feel I should ask that you do further research on the issues you raise, either through the archives, through the Internet, or by asking questions of PUSD or other local or state officials, prior to posting to the list. I know that we all have limited time in our lives, and I'm sure the same applies to you. At the same time, please remember that there are nearly 300 list members, many of whom receive list posts in their official capacity, and their time is quite valuable to us all. I believe that the list is a valuable resource for the community by providing well-researched information and opinion, and I know that your contributions can help make it that much stronger and useful. Please note that I raise this matter with you off list, because, again, I don't wish to seem to limit you in any way. But, at the same time, please understand why I, and likely others, will limit responses to you, at least as your posts currently appear. Not because we (at least I) don't think your issues are valid, but rather because they've been so recently addressed, and finding out the answers is so easy. Again, your enthusiasm and concern are most welcome to the list - I just have to worry about the other 300 members as well. I hope you accept my comments in the supportive manner they are intended. Please let me know if you have concerns about my comments. And please don't feel that you are being singled out in some way. Depending on circumstances, I send off list advice to other list members as seems appropriate, in an effort to keep the list moving forward. Thank you for your understanding. I am frankly surprised and thrilled that you responded to my onslaught in such a tactful and respectful manner. I have been bracing for impact, fully expecting a public rebuke or some other unpleasantness. Thank you for the respectful and sincere note. Here's hoping we can make a difference. -- Jeremiah PS: let me know if you object to me sharing your note with others. > On 4/15/06 6:11 PM, "Rene Amy" wrote: Jeremiah, I've always adhered to the principle that one should never put anything in print that shouldn't be expected to show up on the front page of the newspaper. So, feel free to share. At the same time, again, don't think that I'm trying to limit you - it's just that there are so many list members, and responses to many of your questions would be repetitive for the list. And, don't believe everything you hear about me. Issues I've raised over the years have bruised a lot of protected interests. Take care, Rene > On Sat, 15 Apr 2006 18:24:59 Jeremiah Small wrote: Thanks Rene, I don't see your request as at all unreasonable. On the contrary. I only wondered how it would come, not if. Thanks again for surprising me with your diplomatic approach. As you say, one can never believe everything they hear. -- Jeremiah
